[Lumps!] erratic oil pressure gauge

My 85 with an LT1 has about 9000 miles on it, runs like a top, but
has a very erratic oil pressure gauge. I’ve got nearly everything
on the car in great shape, so this is bugging me. It’s always done
it, so I know I have good oil pressure, but watching it bounce
around from less than 0 to around 40 lbs. is getting annoying.
Sometimes when I first crank her up, the gauge won’t even move
until I give it a good thump. Any help out there? Thanks, Tom

Well Tom it may be that you have two problems in a common

circuit. 1 it sounds like the meter itself is sticking and 2 the
pressure transducer is on the blik also, this assumes that the
original Jag meters were retained. 1966 BJ8 convertibles.—GNB–

Tom-Your gauge may also be losing its ground-it must be grounded
via the u-clip holding it in place.Try tightening the knurled nuts
holding it in place. This is assuming you have the stock gauge(s)–
