[Lumps!] hooking up stock gauges to my 350 lump?

My 72 has the 4 major gauges in the dash replaced with Autometer
brand. I do not like the and have bought a complete dask fron
another 1972 XJ6. Has any one hooked them up and will they work?? I
hate to use the Autometer but I need to know whats going on under
my lumps bonnett…Also can the staock Smith’s tac be hooked up to
the HEI dist???

In reply to a message from ninas72 sent Tue 10 Dec 2002:

Nina,
The stock Smith Tach in my '71 is hooked up to HEI. Last night I
pulled it out and did a resistor instalation so that the 6-cyl tach
would read the signal from my 8-cyl. If you would like to know how
to do that email me and ill send you the information. As for the
other gauges, my fuel, water temp and volt meter work. I’ve only
owned the car 3 weeks so im still learning about the hybred
situation.–
