[Lumps!] Larger tire size

Does anyone know the max tire size (width) that can be used with the
standard wheel on a series III? By that I mean no scrubbing on the fender
wells and / or suspension components. I think the recommended is
215/70/15. Other possibilities would be a 16 inch wheel, if one exists that
will fit (does anyone know) and a lower profile tire.

Hi Mike,
When I first bought my Jaguar it had a matched set of Goodyear GT-4’s they
were 245/70/15’s and they had obviously rubbed the inside of the wheel well
during hard cornering to the left, I could see that the undercoat had been
rubbed off. I switched to a set of Cooper 205/60/15’s and so far no rubbing
of the wheelwells. But the car does sit a little lower than it did with the
Goodyears. So far the car has handled beautifully and I’ved even received a
few compliments as to the way the tire setup looks. But I don’t think I’d try
to go much wider. Hey, I heard that you can click on to the web site of one
of the large tire and wheel companies that advertise in car magazines and do
a “virtual reality” sort of thing seeing how the different tire/rim setups
look on certain cars, but I’ve never done it myself. Does anybody else know
anything about it? I’ve never even seen Jaguars listed where it says what
cars the tires or rims will fit. Maybe Jaguar rims are unique or the lug
pattern is different. But check it out yourself no Jaguar listing at all in
those tire ads… Albert Escalante

Mike Im running 245/5016’s with a little mod. to the fender lip but I ran
225/55 16’s with no problem at all.The wheels are BBS
