[Lumps!] noisy 700R4

A TH700R4 from a 1992 Caprice has crossed my path (actually Hugo’s
path, but he declined;). Vendor says it’s rather noisy, especially in
4th. Any clue what it could be? Is this fixable in a “routine
rebuild”, or is extra work involved?
He wants Euro 750 (USD 700-ish), which is the cheapest I’ve heard
sofar. It probably comes with a burnt lock-up, but the stall
converter wouldn’t be correct anyway.

thanks,–
Arnoud

As far as I’m aware, ‘overhaul’ of an auto box does not cover the cogs.
Just the seals, converter, plates and steels and valve body setting up.
So I’d be wary.
