[Lumps!] Re: Conversion Costs

Well, Guys & Gals,

I read Andrew’s letter & I have to agree with him. Although I used the
Jaguars That Run manual & made my own engine & trans mounts, I’ve looked at
John’s cars & Suncoast. After reading John’s Cars site & communicating with
‘John’ via e-mail, I really got the impression that he was un-helpful &
pretty full of himself. Maybe he has a good product, but I wouldn’t want to
deal with him. Suncoast has a much better attitude, their mounts often go
on Ebay for less than retail & there is the added benefit of being able to
shop around locally for the best prices on the other parts you will need. I
think we all have a favorite counter person that will get you a better deal
than retail.
I think that the best source for info on these swaps is right where you
are now! Ask questions on the list, read the forum & start spinning
wrenches, er, sorry, I meant spanners. ; )

OK guys,
let’s watch just what is being written,

Charlie,

Do we all have to be so careful to be 100% Politically Correct (yuck) &
never say anything bad about anything, even if we make it clear it’s only
our opinion? One little negative recollection, but the rest was all
positive stuff…
After all, isn’t this forum about learning from our peers? If another
lister had a good or bad experience with a vender, etc., I’d want to know so
I could decide whether or not to deal with them.
What do they say, A Wise Man Learns by the Mistakes of Others?
Besides, I thought you had a Flame-proof suit? Heh, heh, heh…

In contrast to some, who certainly are more mechanically gifted than me, I’ve found John at John’s cars: (1) fast e-mail responder; (2) to the point, straightforward, sometimes funny, helpful; (3) BEST thing, to me, is that one does NOT have to shop around and fool with the “counter guys” who mumble: “What’s it for?” “Jag XJSC,” I answer. “Uh, we don’t have nothin’ fer them there EYEtalian cars.” and…ring…ring…ring…“But, its for a Chevy 350…,” I cry in vain when he grabs the phone. (4) Another 30-minutes is wasted while a caller preempts me…a paying customer with my hands on an open wallet! “Uh, now whatcha’ want fer that uh, uh, ‘Feee rah ree’ now?” Ring, Ring…“No, I’m installing a 350 in a…” ring…ring…

Lady who runs this home is misguided. Says I’ve got better things to do than track down 15-cents saved on a bolt that won’t fit when I get home anyway. (Doing so reminds me of guys in $40K dually 4x4s who drive around trying to save 1.7 cents per gallon of gas.)

Neat forum. I’m learning. Hope the List Policy Obergruppenfuhrers don’t kill it with their: “I say there, old chap: One must edit for rather more shortened communications, one knows, doesn’t one?” (Any passing high school journalism student could edit their painfully wordy warning note down to half its size.)
All in fun…enjoy…

Joe

Amen,
I used John’s and had a great experience!

I can’t say negatives about the others because I did not use them!?!

I thought he was looking for a company that did the conversion for you? And what it should cost. Somewhere in CA?
Unfortunatly I can not help with that. Sorry!

Also,
There's a thread about lawsuit:

I for one, don't want to spend ** any time ** in a court of law.

This is no joking matter.
This almost happened a year, and a quarter ago,
because of a Lumper, who decided he could say what he wished.
It closed down the archives here, & brought the admins to seek legal assistance,

ONCE, WAS ENOUGH FOR ME!

Yes, I learn from the mistakes of others.
And flame suits, do not stop someone from
trying to singe the material…

Which is why “Mother” has to step in early!
