I finally had my car back (yes, it was off the road AGAIN…about a straight 8 weeks now…), and it now has a completely rebuilt front end. Anyawy, as I was replacing a burst power steering hose (after driving with manual steering for a fwe miles…) I noticed on the rack near the grease nipple there is an allen key screw.
Does this screw adjust the boost to the rack? I wouldn’t mind turning down the boost, I’ve always felt my cars steering is overboosted. Would turning htat do the trick?
Mike,
Adjusting this screw will not alter the amount of power assist. I believe
what you are looking at is the rack dampening adjustment. As far as I know
you snug it in and back it off a half turn or so to eliminate rack rattle.
Can someone out there confirm this ?
