[Lumps!] Temperature Guage XJ12L

The temperature gauge in my 76 SII has always rested well below the hash
mark at the far left extreme she cold. In conversation with another Jag
owner the other day, he mentioned that he was told during restoration of her
SII that when cold, the needle should rest right on the hash mark,
concluding that even though a dummy gauge, that it may not be reflecting
true temp reading to the gauge, considering that it is starting from about
1/4" or more to the left of the hash mark.

Interested in comments.
And if indeed the gauge is off, is there an adjustment screw on the back of
the gauge to adjust it to the hash mark?
