You know… as long as I’ve been on the lumps list (even though I hardly
ever get around to posting anymore) you think I wouldn’t overlook the
obvious collective experience for help with this problem. …And I’ve been
wrestling with it on and off for quite some time. So here’s an easy one, and
your help would be most appreciated.
I have a 350/700r4 combo with a performer manifold and parts house
edelbrock 4bbl carb. I’ve not been able to come up with a proper bracket for
the throttle cable and TV cable. I’ve fabricated two or three, and they work
fair, but I know there has to be a simple factory bracket, hopefully a one
piece unit to retain both cables with proper adjustments and mounting
points. Can anyone tell me what model/year car or truck would have this
bracket? It’d make my life a bit less stressful.
I did get the little geometry correction bracket for the edelbrock,
although it’s still not the nice cam type from TCI.
I’ll have to post my series 1 floppy sunvisor project when I get time.
Never could find a good pair so I had to resurrect my originals.
Thanks much,
Bill Smith

Here is the one I used on my 383/700R. I have the Quadrajet, we in
CA have smog problems until our car reaches, this year, 30 years!.
It is Universal, and cheap $44.00 with a cable.
It is simple, easy to install and easy to adjust. They also have
fine transmissions and parts to fit any carb to the overdrive
transmission of today.–

Bowtie overdrives has a TV bracket cable assembly that is supposed to work
real well. According to them its not simple to make the 350 carbed 700R4
work with standard TV bits.

Subject: RE: [Lumps!] Throttle and TV cable bracket?
Thanks Daniel,
Checked it out, and it looks like their SBC/carb/tv cable bracket is
described as a factory gm bracket. I’ll look again though when I have a
little time concentrate … it may be a modified version, and for the money
it’s a no brainer. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. And you’re
right, it’s not just a piece of cake to make the combo work, but it’s not
hard either. Just have to know the little tricks and parts to make it work.
