[Lumps!] Tires! A topic that's never been covered!

Hi guys,

Looking for a new set of tires on a 1973 S1 XJ12. I have XJS
lattice rims at 15 X 6.5 inches.

Looking for 225/60R15 tires for the rear, have 215/65R15s on
front. I haven’t bought tires in forever and don’t even
recognise half of the brands on offer (Nexen, Maxxis, Ohtsu for
example).

Any suggestions, warnings or interesting stories?

Or do I just go on price?
Thanks,
Matt–

likely BFG T/A’s are still available. Tire Rack or
Discount tire. Discount Tire has a black Friday special
going on now. (No Affiliation). opps just looked, y
you’re ‘‘down under’’. Maybe still on the T/A suggestion

Radial T/As down here are ludicrously expensive for what they are
(AUD$303/US$221). I also have a memory from the 1980s where a mate
had a set that were deadly in the wet. But I’m guessing they are
better now, certainly priced like it.
Very much looking forward to the new forum BTW.–

I think 15" tires are getting hard to find all over…

Kumho, General, Cooper, Uniroyal, and BFG all still make
those sizes and they’re generally available from online
vendors. BFG is offering rebates on the Radial T/A now.

Not sure about the Aussie market. I’d guess you could at
least find the Kumho Ecsta somewhere. Most variants of
that line are pretty decent tires.–
