[Lumps!] which kit

Ok listers I need your input. I bought a 75 xj6c, the motor and tranny was
given to me on a pallet (supposedly rebuilt and ready for install), I am
more interested in doing a conversion. I have never done a conversion before
(other than the big block small car musclecar thing) and this is my first
jag. It seems that john’s cars makes the most complete kit but obviously the
most expensive one too. Is there another company out there. I’ve also been
to the jtr site but I don’t really want to spend hours at the junk yard
looking for every bracket that I might need. (I’d rather spend a little
extra and enjoy driving my car) What can I expect to get for a rebuilt but
needs assembly xj6 motor and borg-warner tranny. Is john’s cars a
respectable company. Is there someone on the left coast who has a good kit.
Also a note to Bill Decreeft, I also have a pinned (fused) hip, have you
every sat in a more comfortable situation with the way the steering and
legroom work, its the closest I’ve ever been able to get to the steering
wheel, I love it. Thanks guys I know its long but I’m excited to get
started.

I have built a few scratch built lump cars. They all took a long time with
much time spent in the junk yards. However I chose to do the jag with the
John’s kit. everything went well except the driveshaft was too short. Called
John’s, sent it back, and a new one showed up… no charge. John’s were
really helpful as I imagine the other venders would be too. Any way you can
see my efforts at

bay was prepped the car was a driver a week later.

just my one experience lumping a jag. but a good one never the less

Best of luck Tim!----- Original Message -----

Hi Tim
My hip is a total replacement (result of an accident about 40 years ago) and
they’ve done the same hip three times…this one’s the charm; never feel it.
The Jag is certainly comfortable after even 5 or 7 days of solid
gotta-get-there driving.
On your question to the Gang ; listen to them all…but you need to think
about what it is you want for your self. I’ll let you know how mine comes
out and how close to what I wanted.
