Man Cave or Garage Art

I received a Christmas present from a friend of this:

My 65 Riviera GS in green

The instructions included the firms address and web site, so I went looking. They have a few Jaguars but are of modern models – 200X and 201X range.

But they will make anything to order. So I found an image on line and then corresponded with the firm until I was happy with their draft image. They custom cut the outline in the plastic and I requested red LEDs (they have about half a dozen colors from which to choose):

This Jag image is now in their library – although it doesn’t appear on-line (they have more images than appears on-line). They can add/subtract small features (head rests, mirrors (except “within” the windscreen). They can also “flip” the image so as to have a quarter front driver view vs drivers view – and since there is no steering wheel, you only gotta fuss with the side mirror.

My current hobby is letterboxing (http://www.atlasquest.com), which involves hand-carving rubber stamps. My personal specialty is cars and airplanes. When I carve a rubber stamp of a car, I start with the highest-resolution photo of the car I can find and painstakingly draw its outline. What I end up with looks a lot like these images! I then transfer the image to the surface of the rubber and start cutting.

I was kinda hoping that site would let me steal some of their images to save me the trouble of doing all that outlining. Alas, they only show very low-rez images.

Super looking. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

P.S. The E is nice, too.
