MK 2 gearbox change

I have recently acquired a MK2 which started life as an automatic and is now manual overdrive. Gearbox has identification no. KCN 2748 does anyone know which model this is off. O/d is only on 4th

Hi Paul,
From Mk2. Later ones I think. GBN/JCN in early ones.
OD is always only on 4th.

KopiK,

Many thanks for that, I have been trying to find out for a while.

Much appreciated,

All the best,

Paul

One easy check, is the reverse position to the left and back? If so this is the later full synchro unit that was launched in 1965 cars. My late 1964 production 3.8S has this unit. Earlier Moss gearboxes had reverse to the left and forward as I recall.

KopiK, John and Ian,
Thank you all very much for your prompt response to my first foray on to the forum. The info was invaluable and it is indeed a late gearbox with synchro on first and I thought it was my skilful double declutching!
Thanks again
Paul
