I noticed today when I took the car for a run after it had been standing for a while that the ignition light is staying on and the ammeter is showing no charge ! Any easy fixes ?

Sounds like itβs not charging , belt slipping or fell off , lose wire , brushes worn out
Stout piece of wood and a hammer, with the engine running give the
dynamo a clout, not on the brush cover !!
Hello All, I found that the main BROWN wire from the genny to the voltage regulator was a bit loose and corroded - I used a bit of sandpaper to clean the contacts and now all is well . Thx to all the people who gave me advice.

You also might take a small wire brush to other connector points like the battery terminals and gauges behind the dash (disconnect battery first) If one area is corroded, more likely there is corrosion in other areas.
