MK2 Jaguar Axle change project

Thought I would start a new Topic , but not about brakes ! :grin:

Do you live in the UK?. Got a scrap axle case, all stripped.
You can have it.

Have you considered fitting Xjs style callipers on the rear?

Almost a bolt on mod. Using jag bits (keep your h/brake bits.

I used XJ6/420 rear calipers on my MK9. Almost a direct swap. Piston sizes were about the same.
A much more reliable unit and much less prone to seizure. Handbrake fitted ok.
They were on eBay for about 60 quid.
Well worth considering if they can be fitted to the MK2.
Got a scrap one kicking around somewhere if you want to compare dimensions.

You will most likely need to fit the 420 uprights in order to fit the Volvo calipers as the bolting centers are different to the MK2.
420s fitted 3 pot calipers not 4 pots, if my memory serves me correctly. (Probably due to wheel clearance).

This is a 150 but the same applies to the mk2

Not too sure on the copper brake lines :frowning: CuNi lines would be a better choice, copper tends to work harden.

So is it Copper or copper/nickel a bit of a difference there;

somethings not right with the picture you posted. as the handbrake mechanism should be on the bottom of the rotor, this particular caliper should be on the other side.

Indeed the hbrake is normally off the bottom on a 150. The photo is not of my car but one in a restoration company I visit.

In any event it hopefully proved the later callipers can be used .

With best regards
