Mk2 rear axle shaft removal: minor victorty

I have stalled out on my 63 Mk2 over the past couple of years and I decided to slowly get back to it. I have the wire wheels and the hubs have been removed. (GET THE TOOL).
In order to replace the outer axle bearing the axle must be pulled, no C clip involved. I got a very large coupling nut and a length of threaded rod. I threaded this onto the axle and used the large mounting bracket from an engine stand as the weight to impact the secured threaded rod. Bracket weight of 10 lbs or so. Pulled right out. As I mentioned a VERY MINOR victory. Pete

If I have it right, you are describing a very large version of a slide hammer. Thanks for the tip, I’ll try it.
