MKIV 'D' Rear Brake Light Lens

Hello friends,

Were the ‘D’ Brake / Reversing glasses painted all over with an opaque colour then red?

Is it possible to strip, then repaint them?

Cheers,

Tim

The answer is yes and yes. You just need paint stripper and translucent red lacquer. Failing that: https://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/products/177l-d-lamp-lens-for-lucas-model-288-3-box-lamp

Excellent!

Thank you, Peter.

I used nail polish - been on for 7 or 8 years now. A great range of shades to select, but you may, or may not, get some smiles from staff or a nearby customer.

Od-as in 50s thru mid-60s–TLL would sometimes ‘bleach’ out, in the sun: DKWs did it, frequently, because their RR TLL was directly under the fuel fill cap.

Mom taught me the nail polish trick, on the insides of the lenses, and it was fairly durable.

Also good for moxnix sticks…
