MKV Boot Lock Cylinder Removal

Does anyone know how to remove the key cylinder from the boot lock handle?

It’s held in place by a little brass pin. If you knock the pin out with a pin punch (or a suitable panel pin) you can withdraw the barrel if the key is in the correct position.

Key cylinder on Mark V bootlock is removed by taking out the setscrew holding the cylinder in the handle. Cylinder slides out the end when the setscrew is removed. The setscrew is adjacent the bolt on handle side facing the bootlid when on the car. Access to the setscrew is limited if the handle is on the bootlid.

There is a small headless screw that holds it in.
You’ll need a jeweler’s screwdriver.

My apologies! It seems I got this wrong.

Couple more close up pictures which may also help - you do really have the remove the whole handle from the boot lid to gain access to the small screw (unless you have a right angle jewelers tool to fish around underneath).

Thank you very much. The screw was hidden by a chrome flake.

When the setscrew is replaced, it is good to have it turned to be completely inside the receiving hole. Any element of the screw which is proud of the hole can scratch the opposing side of the handle when opening or closing. A score mark arc on the handle base can be avoided if the setscrew cannot scratch it while opening or closing. When the setscrew has proved difficult to remove, the head may have raised points which can make this scratch. If the lock cylinder is going into a reproduction handle, there may be some fettling required on the setscrew or the cylinder-receiving internals to make good fits. The tolerances here are around 0.1 mm or less to make good cylinder fit and avoid scratch issues.
