[modern] Contradictory....!

Hello all, last week i posted a line to say that i
had the cars fuel system thoroughly cleaned and that
it had run perfectly after that, that was all
true…but the next day i went out and lo and
behold the dreaded rough idle was back just as bad as
ever!! i could not make straight back to the fuel
cleaning place until a little later in the week hence
the time lapse of this posting…because this IS
definetly the end of this tale, first of all its
important to remind you all that this car has been
converted to a twin turbo system and i have also had
it fitted with a Lpg gas system. Right then, as i said
immediatly after the cleaning the car was great and
very smooth indeed, i had this rough idle problem but
only when the car ran on petrol , it was fine when it
ran on Lpg maybe a hint of a slight miss,i had fitted
a new temp sensor after a FF3 warning and i fitted a
new thermostat as the original was showing 2 bars
under 90 although it would reach 90 +1 digit if sat in
a long traffic jam i also swapped over the MAF unit
from a freinds car , had the car set up on a computer
and to my surprise it was running slighly lean, in
fact they just managed to set it at 1% Co2 hence the
title Contradictory!..Well guess WHAT…it
turns out that the cars runs absolutely fine on the
Lpg gas because its a higher Octane fuel, so instead
of unleaded i filled up with Super Unleaded and the
car acts impeccably! just as a English Gentleman
should naturally!!So there we go folks i bet thats a
new one. the fella at the garage was great, he said we
could take the car in and try some expesive tests on
the ECU at 40 an hour but first i’d like you to try
the Super Unleaded if it dose’nt work then we’ll have
to look at the ecu,What an honest chap,he could’ve
really screwed me there , so every few dozen garages
there are decent technicians who take pride in there
work and judgement also what an advert for his garage
'cos i will telleveryone interested about his garage
and will confidently reccomend him.
Yes that is the Grand Finale of >>>>>CONTRADICTORY or
What.

Hi John,

my '88 3.6 used to pink on 4 star and regular unleaded. I had a modified low
octane CPS fitted which cured the problem abeit with a slight loss of power.
As you are running LPG, you need all the advance you can get, so I would
recommend running Super Unleaded when you start on Petrol, and changing to
Gas ASAP. In winter you might need petrol for a bit longer as the Vapouriser
Diapragm can freeze up if you use it before the engine has started producing
any heat.

Good to hear its running OK now, I’ll be converting when I’m convinced a
properly engineered port injection kit is available that won’t upset the
X300’s management system.

Regards

Kevin
