I’m attempting to do some major work to the
blower/vent
system and fix a heater core leak.
I believe I can take the heater core out of the system
with the information from Haynes, but what is the best
way to remove the whole plemum assembly?
My defrost vents are always on and the center vent is
sometimes stuck closed.
Do i need to take the dash off to do this?
Any hints
Thanks
Dave

You don’t have to remove much to change the heater core.
As I mentioned before, I would check the vacuum system
before tearing the dash apart to fix the defrost vents.
Default (no vacuum) is open on the defrost vents.
If you DO want to remove the center vent and defrost vents,
you do have to take the entire dash apart from what I have heard.

Dave,
I soldered up my old one.
It leaked close to where the pipe entered it.
I put some flux on it and heated it with a propane torch,
and it looked like new.
I installed the one I already had bought, and never tested it,
but it sure looks good…

I took out my heater core today and it was leaky. It
looks like a seam.
Had anybody had any luck getting these repaired or is
it better to replace it?
