[modern] lock trouble

What a day! First my ABS break light went out after being on for a few days;
cause unknown. Then my power lock system stopped working with the remote,
the key or the interior switch. Now the light that warns of exterior bulb
failure is on even though all of the exterior bulbs are working! I’m a new
owner and am afraid my car may be possessed. Is there an priest in the
house?

Congratulations on getting a great car. As a fellow Majestic owner, I
welcome you to a “select” group. the '92 Majestic is a very rare car.

I’d suggest that you look at the condition of your battery. Could be a
replacement will fix all these ills, XJ40s need a strong battery.

The power lock system can get messed up internally. Check the fuses, and
then try locking and unlocking the door by operating the pushbuttons at each
door in turn. If that doesn’t work, write back for further instructions.

The bulb fail modules on a '92 should not give trouble, look again at the
bulbs. You have two in each rear brake light, they are easy to miss. Also
sometimes a poor connection at a light will trigger this warning, use bulbs
with steel (not brass) bases and keep them clean. Don’t forget to check the
fog lights.
