[modern] Phantom vacuum hose

I just removed the underhood SLS junk per Dave L’s excellent post, what an
improvement. Now comes the hard part, cleaning up 11 years of built up crud
that I can now get to.

When I removed the battery tray for cleaning there was a 12 in section of
vacuum hose attached to the side of it. Neither end was connected to
anything but the forward end did have a straight plastic nipple that was
probably for coupling with another hose. This hose has a white stripe. I was
wondering if anyone has any idea as to what it went to, it may have been the
original EGR valve hose that was replaced but not connected to the tray.

Any help will be appreciated.

I finally named my cat after learning that Lady Godiva made her famous ride
au natural through the streets of Coventry.
Bless her heart.

It the battery vent hose, Stuart. The idea was to carry any fumes or liquid
venting out of the battery away from the area, which is just above the
electronics bay after all (!) and onto the ground. Interstate replacement
batteries have this vent and probably others do too.
