[modern] Re: The Irony of it all

Martin,
In the U.S., white is the safest color, with other
lighter colors thereafter.
Statistically, the worst color is black, then red, then
other dark colors.
I see plenty of fools with dark cars driving in the rain at dusk
with the lights off.
With a dark car, on a dark road, its very hard to see them.

I had a white mustang for years with no impacts.
I had a black El camino for a few years and had
3 bad accidents where people drove right into it at speed.

The jaguar has a reputation of being a safe car.
There was a study done in England reporting it being
one of the safest cars to drive…was mentioned
on the list about 3 or 4 years ago…

Doesnt someone publish lists of types of cars and RTAs?

Perhaps these factors make Jags vulnerable to being hit

They are a low car - even in the uk they look lower than most
other vehicles
including our small ford fiesta.
They often have dark colours - mine is Dark Green - If I remember red and
yellow cars are safest.
Most older ones (at least in the UK) dont have high level brakes lights
In the UK they are one of the widest cars on the road - so that
must put the
wing mirrors at risk

Given the
sad stories of other list members who’ve had severly damaged cats
recently,

Yes I can vouch for the fact that dark color cars are hard to see at night or
dusk or dawn. Yesterday morning while on the way to work I started down the
hill on Cannon Rd. It is fairly steep and no street lights in that area. I
barley spotted a white light in my lane with a red light in the other. I could
not tell what it was so I started to brake . its a good thing I did as I pumped
the brakes a couple of time to reduce my speed. Then I realized when I was
about 50’ away that it was a dark color Blazer side ways in the road. What he
was doing there I will never know , but the white light was his side marker
light. I could have very eerily of hit him broadside. I was not sure at all
that it was even a vehicle in the road at first.
