[modern] Thoughts on new Jaguar lines

Hello,
Currently my daily driver is a Golf, and as much as i’d like to have my
XK8 fill that role it sadly has problems in snow over about 4 inches. Since
our other vehicles have similar or worse problems in bad weather, i’m
unfortunatly bound to having to have something else to drive on those bad
days.
The more I read about the new X-Type the more i’m impressed with it and
think it will be the replacement for my Golf (even though I really want a
new XJR, but can afford another car that expensive :(. My question is, what
is the general feeling on new models coming from Jaguar? Is the first year
good, or should I look at waiting till the second year?

Thanks,
-dave

(Guess i’m looking at going to oposite direction Jaguar would prefer in my
buying habits

If I had money,
Tell you what I’d do,
Go down town,
buy a X type or two…

Ooops - wrong jingle - Same company, though. Almost… It’s just that I
can’t hear a jingle for the “Art of Performance” - I don’t think anything
rhymes… But I can hear the little voices telling me to stop typing
silly stuff now…

I’ve considered giving them their Ford Truck back for an X-Type, if I can swing
it (close - but I’ll need to talk to my boss. I’m sure I now have justification
for a 10% raise). I believe that’s the direction they want us to go - And
they’ve got me hooked at a particularly delicate age where I love my XJ40
despite its faults, and I’m skating that line between a pauper and a yuppie, and
My children won’t be in college for another 10 years, and they’re going to get
scholarships anyway…

At any rate - If I do work something with that big green monster that I have (a
dream for now), and it’s replacement is anything like the first two years of the
XJ40, we’ll have plenty of stuff to occupy our time - We’ll all be able to write
little love notes about Bulb Failures, Brett will have lot’s to keep him busy -
finding good ways to fix all the bad gadgets, and you’ll all need to endure
more bad jokes from me…

… All jokes aside, IMHO, I really, really don’t think that will be the
case. I believe they want this particular model to kick the proverbial ass of
the competitors, and any bad press out of the starting block would be, uh, bad
press.

Got a strong “want” to write “01 X” (or is it “02” ?) on the next line instead
of '99 Explorer XLT… I already have two jobs to pay for the toy’s
I’ve got, so - Coming soon to a neighborhood near you - John’s Lawn service -
Only $108/hour. C’mon - It’s worth it : - )
