[modern] X300 95 XJ6 Life expectancy?

Hi Folks,

I was wondering how many miles I might get out of my 95 XJ6 so far 85K
without major problems.

Thanks in advance.

Paul,
As many as you want, its all a matter of replacing things that
wear out.

The engine and trans can do well over 200,000 miles, likely
much more if rebuilt.

You will likely need to do some valve and head gasket work,
and eventually some bottom end work at real high mileages,
but it depends on your driving and maintenance habits.

Most cars seem to go to very high mileages if driven a lot.
The lifetime is reduced if the car is little used.
I had a friend who had a long commute, and his car had 180,000
miles on it before it was paid for(4 years?).

He sold it at 250,000 miles, without it needing much work at all.
An alternator, an axle (front wheel drive), a motor mount.

The engine was never apart, and did not use oil.

For a Jaguar, long term life can be helped by doing the regular
maintenance (fluid changes) and garaging it.
Time spent in the sun and rain will take its toll on the paint, wood,
leather, headliner, climate control flaps and foam, etc.

Its a bit easier to keep a car in good shape, and the car is much
more reliable if you replace things before they fail, and as
they start to degrade or look bad.

Its easy to ignore the faded bumper rubber, the trim under the windshield,
the broken radio antenna, the bad looking wheels, the cracked wood,
etc, until the car is somewhat of a wreck…
