I need to find a hose seal for the steering rack of a 1971 XJ, the one I need is part number 11988, it fits under the low pressure hose from the PS pump. It has a 37 degree flared end and a male sitting on the bottom. There are two sizes, and the later S3 racks are smaller.
The largest one in the photo is from a S3, the S1 looks like it but has a larger bottom male portion.
Can anyone help?
Rob Laughton in Canada was kind enough to pull one for me out of a S1 steering rack.
The difference is the bottom OD that is .521 on a S1 the other specs are the same as a S3
The S3 seal is only .464 OD and has to be “glued” in place to work.
I took the seal Rob gave me to local machines hop and he turned down the section from the mid point to the top. I had a local Hoseman cut off the flared end and put on a new flare and fitting on the metal hose for the PS supply line. No initial leaks that usually happened. Will check again tomorrow after it cools down.
