New Codes (95 XJ6

Tonight, my extraordinarily dependable 95 XJ6 had two sudden issues. I will separate post the other problem (dash lights) in a another thread. The first problem is the check engine light came on. I have these codes:

1185
1186
1191
1192

I looked these up with the Jaguar Codes and it said they are related to the O2 sensors. I am at a lost as I just put 4 new sensors in about a month ago (and 200 miles). Any help sincerely appreciated!

Richard

Richard:
I don’t have my documents in front of me, but I am pretty sure those are lambda heater codes. Since you have more than one, I suspect the lambda sensor heater fuse. As I said, I am away from my docs, but I think that fuse is in the engine bay panel.

Richard, I was only able to find one in my list of 1995 MY DTC codes.
(From the Jaguar DTC manual.) But I found all four in the 1996/1997 MY
DTC codes. (And the one from 1995 does match the ones from 1996/1997.)
Here they are:

Code Description Possible cause
1185 HO2S heater circuit open circuit - HO2S heater circuits high
both upstream sensors resistance
HO2S heater harness wiring
high resistance, open circuit
or short circuit to ground

1186 HO2S heater circuit open circuit - HO2S heater circuits short
both upstream sensors circuit to sensor
heater harness wiring circuit
short circuit to B+ voltage

1191 HO2C heater circuit open circuit - Refer to P1185 for possible
both downstream sensors causes

1192 HO2C heater circuit open circuit - Refer to P1186 for possible
both downstream sensors causes

If this were me, I’d take a good look at the wiring harness; especially
since you say the O2 sensors are new. (Or the fuse as previously
suggested.)

I hope this helps.
