New Member - Brief Introduction

New member from the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Attched is a picture of my 86 XJ VP.

Welcome Bill! Looks nice. Did you just get it, or have you had it a while?

Bill,

Welcome. It’s a beautiful car. I have three questions.

It that an XJ6 or XJ12?

What is the Paint Code for that color (It looks like Cranberry Red Metallic (Paint Code CEC) but pictures can be deceiving)? You should find the Paint Code on a small metal tag inside the engine bay on the right side just outboard of the air filter canister.

What is that small square box between the passenger side windscreen and the rear end of the hood (bonnet)?

XJ6 VDP - Yes it is cranberry with tan leather interior.

Satellite radio antenna, which has been relocated to rear interior on top
of 3rd brake light (done last weekend)

It has the Chrome Dimple 1995 16" rims on currently also have the 15"
Kent’s . The Chrome Dimples give the car a completely different look.

Thanks for kind words.

welcome Bill
I’m somewhat of a new comer myself. I belong to a couple of Jag forums, and I think this one is by far the best. Nice ride!

The wheels look like they’re off a '94-98 XJ or to be somewhat exact X300. Just throwing this out there; but isn’t the offset of the X300 wheel different than the Series I thru III. Which could put undo strain on the wheel bearings and axle stubs? Sorry Bill I’m not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but the only reason why I’m saying any of this is because I just went through front suspension hell with my mismatched front axles and carriers on my Series II. Granted Series III suspension bits are very easy to come by; the older stuff in the Series I and II not so much. Ok I’ll stop now.

Welcome Bill! Enjoy!

That’s a drop-dead gorgeous car. I’ve got an '06 Radiance Pearl VDP with a beige interior. Want to trade? :grinning:

Thought I didn’t know how to post a photo, but there it is in my address line! Duh.

hahaha…love it.

Makes me feel better. Restoring mine, but not this way…sigh…yet…gulp.
I may end up there I now realize…sigh. damn.
