Petrol tank - vents when opening cap!

Hi All,

I’ve had my 1995 Daimler Double Six for two months and every time I refuel, on opening the fuel cap, a mass of gas escapes!! The car runs perfectly but I wonder if there is a ‘breather’ blocked somewhere - and if so does anybody know where it is? Thanks Guys. H.

Is it escaping or is it a vacuum?

Hmmmmm…that’s a good question!!! I think it must be a vacuum as I don’t remember being blasted in the face!! H

Robin, Check the little drain hose screen ,Make sure behind the trunk carpet its not broken or crushed.

have a look under the rear of the car. There is probably a square thing (ford part) charcoal canister, it should vent though this.

Are you in the US? You may have a solenoid under there too, which could be your problem
