Plate on Top of Vee?

What is that long narrow plate on top of the engine in the Vee? I relocated my injector wires from there up to the fuel rail, but had to take out a couple bolts to remove the little metal clasp. The torque didn’t seem too much, so I assume it’s not a cam cover or valve cover? I just torqued back down tightly.

Greg,
I recommend that you post a picture of the part you are asking about.

This is not my engine, something I googled. The plate in green. And a sample bolt.

It’s called the “Top Plate.” I took it off once to replace the gasket. Once off, you can see the distributor drive shaft going forward to the timing chain, and that’s about as I recall. Several things, like the dizzy and the throttle pedestal, are bolted to it.

Ahhh, OK. Doesn’t sound like it contains oil then. So no worries undoing the bolt.
