Power Steering system flush

Gentlemen …

I’m ready to flush the power steering system on my '89 XJ40. I also purchased an inline filter.

Any advice on the best way to do the flush ? Which hose to disconnect to use as a drain ?

Is it OK to place the inline filter on the hose going from the reservoir to the pump (in that direction), I hope that’s correct because I ordered the filter to fit the larger hose.

Thanks

How did you make out? I am thinking of the same thing, remove the return hose from the rad at the reservoir and adding new flluid in the reservoir until new fluid comes out.

David …

It worked perfectly.

Just a word of warning, before you try to disconnect the return hose going to the reservoir. Try heating the hose where it slips onto the reservoir with a heat gun (or a hair drier) to soften it up a bit. Otherwise there’e a good chance the fitting will snap off … go ahead and ask me how I know that :sleepy:

Fortunately Superglue and JB Weld repaired it long enough for me to get a used reservoir.
