[pre-xk] Chassis No of SS one

Does anybody knows where the chassis no of an SS 1 open four
seater is located on the frame?–

It isn’t.

The chassis number, which was actually a commission number was
only located on a brass commission plate mounted on a bracket
bolted to the bell housing above the starter motor

That is for 1934/5

For 1933 the commission number was stamped on the oil filler cap.
This is for engines that have the chain driven generator.

If you don’t know thw commission number you could work back from
the body number tag on the firewall. JDHC may be able to identify
the commission number from that
The engine number would be an unreliable guide.

I have new unstamped commission number plates for either model if
you need one and can stamp them in the original fonts.–
