[pre-xk] Unusual SS on eBay in Italy

Curious about this car on eBay: http://tinyurl.com/56nd4 I
attempted a couple of translations of the text by using the online
translation engines, but the converted English was not much help.

Is this a converted saloon, or???

David,

Looks like it was a 1936 2 1/2 litre SS saloon.

Curious styling.–

Hi Ed,

I think Denis is nearer the mark at 1938. The chassis is obviously
chopped and the carb set-up has no starting carb fitted but the
engine has the dip stick in the later position.

Peter and Deis,

Your exactly right. I saw the early carbs with the manual chokes
and the early petrol pipes and my brain stopped functioning.

The early carbs are worth quite a bit. The local SU agent asks
about AU$ 1,100 / pair and feels he can sell them to UK.–
