Priming motor using pump sprayer

Dear E-type lovers.
Some time ago I asked how to prime a newly rebuild motor. I appreciated all those who gave me advice. One person did responded with removing one of the galley bolts and putting in a barbed fitting that a hose from a new garden pump sprayer could attach to. We did have to rethread the brass fitting to match the galley bolt. This last weekend, with my sons help, we did hook up the sprayer to the barbed fitting and pumped in about 3 quarts of oil. To make sure it was working I loosened the two supply lines coming into the back of the cam shafts and low and behold oil came gushing out. We then filled the rest of the breakin oil and cranked the motor over without spark plugs. After only 2 five second cranking attempts the oil pressure came up on the manual gauge. Super great way to prime the motor. I felt much better about turning motor over for the first time.

Thanks so very much,
Alf

Great to hear that. Small victories generate big smiles.
