[racing] American Racing Wheels

The right racing wheels can help you win a race. That is why
in my opinion; you should always go for the best wheels in
the racing wheels market. I have been using wheels from The
American Racing Wheels company. They have given me the best
service. Anyone with new suggestions?

American racing wheels are aluminum. That means they’re
heavy. Not notably lighter than the steel wheel. (compared
to a magnesium wheel). Typically in that 20+ pound range for
a stock width wheel… A Magnesium wheel will weigh in that
6-7-8 pound range. (depending on design)

Wheel weight is a really big deal in racing. The lighter
the wheel the faster the car will accelerate, the better it
will stop and the better it will respond to various
suspension inputs…

Plus it reduces the whole weight of the car… It’s possible
to change wheels and save 50-70 pounds. Thus the advantage
of the lighter wheel is doubled… Less rotational mass to
overcome and less total weight to accelerate.

In addition brake heat is rejected two ways… either air
flow or radiation… American racing wheels tend to be
relatively solid designs, not as open as several others…
Thus reducing airflow and radiation so the brake heats more
nd retains that heat longer…–
