Can anyone tell me where the D type starter button is sourced
from?

this. The solenoid is early Mini floor-mounted and the
button was from some kind of Austin or Bedford van IIRC.
Jerry Booen at D-type Developments casts repro ones.
Other’correct’ bits are the blue instrument light from
MkVII VIII & IX, ignition switch flush fit like those (not
the later style secured with a chrome ring like the E-type
etc.). Door catches are XK120 I believe.
