Don, thanks for the great video, the continual tape is quite good
as the race runs in stages as I understand it. We visited Tazzy in
Nov.2013 as our host Norm Lutz was repairing a machine for our
usage in OZ. He is preparing a machine (XJ-S of course) for 2015
for the Taga T. I recognized some of the driving areas as we
traveled by car down to Hobart and all around Tasmania. Sad part is
the cost of the ferry from Melbourne is so darn high ($1000), need
to team up with a bunch of others and fly in or secure a bulk rate
for the machines and spares for the race. Looking forward to seeing
Norm there next year.
Ron you need to go to OZ and Tasmania as these guys are really
serious and talented, hospitality is beyond the pale, stay at the
Loufra Hotel at Eaglehawks Neck outside Hobart…very classy
and reasonable. Patrick is your host and they make some of the
smoothest sipping whisky.Best, JW.–

Yes. Same sound as was heard in 1985 when Tom Walkinshaw
showed a clean set of heels to the local v8 lads at
Bathurst.
BUT…I didn’t see a ‘‘spoiler’’ on Tom’s XJS and if anyone
needed one then he did with the taps wide open in
4th(5th??) gear on Conrod Straight!!!
Maybe…just maybe…the XJS doesn’t need a rear spoiler
to slow it down ???–

The book by Allan Scott reveals that they used a “cooling device” which
consisted of a long thin cooler hung out the back under the car. BMW
complained that it was an aerodynamic aide (diffuser). TWR claimed it helped
cool the diff or something. Regulators allowed it. As a unintended side
effect, it provided downforce at the rear …-----Original Message-----
