Radiator Replacement 1984 XJ6

I finally got around to replacing the radiator on my '84 XJ6. I wanted to report that I purchased an APDI/PRO radiator from Rock Auto. Part number is 8010033. It is an aluminum radiator. Cost was only $124.79. Shipping only $9.99.It is a PERFECT fit, except for the air intake bellows, which I had to shorten by a few inches.
The job went very smoothly. I did not remove the bonnet, mainly because I didn’t have any help that day, but it did not present a problem. (My car has gas struts that support the bonnet and open it as far as it will go before hitting the bumper). I’ve tried to attach a photo of the old and new radiators, but no guarantees.
Anyway, an easy job. Sorry I put it off for so long.

Thank you for your post. This is good to know. though I do check Rock Auto for Jag parts, but a radiator? Rock Auto wouldn’t have been my first choice. Thank you for your post.

Thanks for the info., I wish the replacement would be so easy as on my X type Jag
the radiator on that one might require removal from the bottom.
I’m having some outfit do it if I need one.

                                                                             Walter

Very nice product. New material. Ignites the alloy vs brass cooling efficiency?

Gas struts on re bonnet/. Interesting. In lieu of the little "monkey motion: device at the left front? I disconnected mine to allow the
bonnet to open more. but, use a prop to keep it off my noggin while in there.

More pictures, please?

Yes, wished o say thank you as well.
I JUST happened to message and ask them as well the quality.

There is this seller and a couple others with this price. Unsure if they are related.

However I am quite certain they are all precisely the same radiator.

Seller was kind. I had to ask, and basically what good is a year warranty for a guaranteed piece of crap after all, and these sellers disappear, etc. change IDs.

It is an easy job I can tell. I intend to get all the parts to do all I need and knock it all out at once.

Anyway, thanks again for making the effort to post.
It is very helpful and appreciated.

Nortguy, thanks for posting this. I’m looking at this radiator for my '84 XJ6. I can’t tell from your photo, but is there a small pipe on the top left corner of the radiator? On my SII engine I have a 3/8" or so hose running from the thermo housing to the top left corner of the radiator. I think on the SIII engine the hose runs from the expansion tank to that spot on the radiator.

I already have e-fans on my car so I believe an SIII rad will fit. Thanks.

Yes. The radiator does have the small nipple on the top left corner of the radiator. As you indicate, on my SIII, the hose going to it runs from the expansion tank. I will attempt to attach a photo. If it doesn’t work, send me your email and I’ll send it to you.

Thanks for the reply and photo, that answers my question about the upper left corner of the radiator. But after taking a closer look at the return outlet (lower left of the radiator) of my existing SII radiator, it doesn’t have that extra nipple pointed upwards. I have a SIII service and parts manual and can’t find any reference to the purpose of that extra outlet. Anyone know the details on that? Thanks very much.

The hose from that nipple goes up to the bottom fitting on the expansion tank.
