OK, I’m not too quick on the uptake. Got a rear shock off. Spring compressed. Now what? How do I get the split collet off to remove the spring? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks,
This is the kit I used. Once you have compressed the spring enough, the collets will just about fall out or require a slight tap with drift and hammer. Be careful, lots of spring in that compressed spring!

Yep a sharp rap with a BFH should deal to the collets.
Guess I need a bigger hammer! thank you both
If you need a bigger hammer, your spring is not compressed enough.

Spring is well past the collets, but I’ll take your advice and compress further. Thanks
Too much rust. Soaked with penetrant for a couple days. Removed the circlip which holds the collets and let the spring push both collar and collets to the top of the shock, but would not slip over the top. Dropped the shock on it’s head repeatedly (8 or so times) on concrete. Compressed the spring again and the collets grudgingly came free. Damn, only three more to go!
