Reassembling Rear Quarterlight Window Assembly in 1955 140 FHC

After many years of storage disassembled, I am reinserting the glass into the inner (opening) frame. There is a rubber strip that is folded around the glass edge and both inserted into the groove in the frame. There is a tremendous amount of friction in doing this and am wondering if there are any good tricks in completing this.

Liquid soap or rubber grease would be a couple that come to mind.

Ronald,

We dealt with a similar question about a week ago. The parts list refers to “Everseal” (BD.1300/5 and 34" long) which is a thin rubber that is folded over the edge of the glass (like you mentioned).
It is still available in 1/32, 1/16 and 3/32" thickness. So if it becomes too difficult to install, first measure what you have and possibly try a thinner version.
Have you rechromed your window frames? This might also have influenced the dimensions.
And of course lots of liquid soap like Robin mentioned…

Bob K.

Thanks for your help.

Many thanks for these suggestions. Ron
