Registering a South African car in the UK

Does anybody on the site have any knowledge of registering a South African car in the UK?
They are threatening me with a Q plate if I cant get a certificate from the ZA registration authorities showing when it was built!
The problem seems to be that as it was exported as CKD the heritage certificate counts for nought.
Any help from those who may of trod this path before or even someone who knows how to contact the ZA authorities would be most helpful.
Thanks.

Welcome: you might also post this in the E Type forum.

Hello,
I have registered a CKD here in the Netherlands. But i had the south african registration, you can always get a Jaguar heritage certificate, that will mention the build date.

Regards, Peter Jan

A UK friend has been though this process recently – from memory the problem is determining date/place of manufacture as cars may have been exported as ‘parts’ assembled SA, or traversed boundaries. In the end he invoked the services of a Jaguar Enthusiasts Club specialist (and possibly another agent) to assist but it wasn’t quick.

Thanks for that I have recruited a friend of a friend in ZA to help.
