While preparing to chrome my xk120 grill for chroming, I began to wonder how to actually chrome it. Does one take it apart (unsolder the vanes) and chrome them separately and then reassemble or chrome it in one piece? What is the general wisdom?.. Tadek

Restoration of a XK120 grille

Hello, here is a description of how I restored the grille of my XK120. The car is a restoration project and the grille looked as shown in this picture. [Unrestored] Frame and vanes were seriously bent and scratched. After removing the remains of the old chrome plating by way of chemical stripping (done by a professional) I de-soldered all the vanes. 120 Grille Repair

Recently purchased a '53 OTS and have a question re: loose grille slats. What is a proper repair procedure. I remember from the 50s and 60s that I was able to align the slats without breaking them loose from the surround, so I guess the attaching medium was chosen to allow this, but how is a slat that has broken loose at the bottom, repaired?
