Replacing clutch - what should I do at the same time?

Hi all,

This is my first major foray into car mechanics - I’ll soon be renewing the clutch on my 1989 3.6l manual XJ-S. Luckily I will be receiving a little baby sitting.

What else would you change whilst doing this job? The engine will remain in place, but the gearbox and bell housing will drop out, so there will be a lot of access.

The car has one other issue - coolant pressure is a bit high, and at one point a hose failed. Perhaps there’s something I can do about this at the same time.

The car has done about 100,000 miles.

Cheers
Jeff

Throw out bearing, pilot bearing, rear main seal - motor, input shaft seal and output shaft seal on transmission

I think you’ll find it’s 3.6 but if you want a new clutch, new master cylinder and slave let me know as I’ll never use them.

Oops, typo, yes, it’s a 3.6. Thanks for the offer but I’m in the UK!
