Rubbish on EBAY

there is a USA fellow in Florida, he gives very accurate descriptions of used XK gear, calls himself James Dean, The Jag Guru, never dealt with him, or even seen him mentioned on here

There is a local manafacturer of brake disks…they advertise “fit MKX '61-70”

I rang them to inquire where they aware that there is no such things as a MKX '68-70,
the brake disc is a different size, could they supply me?

and if not, at least alter the ebay ad

They treated me like I was straight out lying (Ebay ad still unchanged for years)
Imported the correct parts from UK

I finally bought (after looking for many months on Ebay) a genuine gold-painted Lucas HS12 sports coil from 1950. It cost a ridiculous amount of money, and yes, I know it wasn’t original fitment on any 120, but it was an aftermarket upgrade at the time the car was current. It has a neat screwed-on alloy ID plate, but the trouble is I’m scared to fit it in case it should fail…!

Nope. Not limited slip. Garden variety open diff, 19 spline side gears, but missing the cross shaft and the two spider gears. I see maybe $150 worth in parts there. And why are the cross shaft and spiders missing? No Bueno if the shaft came adrift while it was running. Usually beats the crap out of the pinion gear.

There is an Adelaide company which has a variety of treasures
A pair of SS boot open securing nuts GBP 290
A MK IV rain gutter [ one only] GBP 395
2 only of 3 needed, straight pieces of steel bar to mount front bumper bar GBP 290 [ i shouldn’t have given the last set away gratis maybe]
A bare MK IV/V cylinder head GBP 2475
MK V rocker cover GBP 595 { Don’t rush Rob]
Oddly enough looking at completed items for this vendor, nothing ever seems to sell. I wish he’d buy some of my junk at those prices [ less commisn, of course]

New Old Stock was originally meant for new genuine and authentic manufacturer part from an old stock, and that was usually correct for a while by most honest and responsible sellers, though unfortunately NOS is used today as just an other advertisement lure…

And a key ring for 950 pounds I thought there was a car that went with it but no just the keyring!!!

I am guessing he hasn’t read this thread!

and a reader of this forum…

I notice that ’ jagking ’ has ANOTHER NOS coil… better grab it while you can…

Hi Godfrey.
On bringing this to the sellers attention this is the reply I received.

“Hello there
Thanks for your email. I find YOU fraudulent and its obvious to me and I am a Jaguar Specialist that you know nothing about Jaguars but just the same you have a nice day…jagking”

Well, there ya go: the “Jaguar specialist” hath spoken!!

Seriously, I made similar observations, on threads or ads about what-have-you, and idiots be idiots, they respond the same.

Like the time, years ago, when an ad on eBait claimed a three-cylinder dizzy was out of a DKW (@saabguy will love this!) …!!!

I just love this seller’s answer. You obviously touched a raw nerve when you questioned his knowledge and commercial practices. If he had anything close to a good conscience about his products, he wouldn’t have answered in such a rude way. The good thing about all this is we get a good laugh at these ridiculous and mostly unjustified offers on Ebay. So there we have it : the King is a Jaguar specialist and that’s not questionable

Here’s one for you. The snout that carries the bearing and pulley is broken off of this good, rebuildable core! Only $300.
