Running board strip positioning - MK IV 1948 1.5 litre

Thanks for the pictures. The feedback seems to be suggesting that on pre war cars the strips started in align with the joint in the running boards, but post war the strips just went over the joint towards the rear (mine is late November 1948 car, and there are no holes drilled in the rear wheel arch section).

It seems to me that the rear wheel arch should have been remade at some stage of Your car life hence no holes for the strips.

That looks to have the rubber filler between the join. I’m going to position my strips just over the join anyway and will use a rubber filler which seems to look neater. Thanks for the photos.

Mateusz Generally it wasn’t , But this car had never been restored and there had been no previous holes in he rear guards
I would think that by 1940 they were assembling cars from parts in stock and what ever they could lay their hands on.
