S III Firewall Hole Question

Does anyone know if the holes circled in the red In the attachéd pic are tapped or not?

Thanks,
Steve

I believe the 6 cylinder models have an engine stabilizer bracket mounted in that place. The S3 was initially thought to have the option of a 6 cylinder engine and I believe 6 cars were produced with the straight 6 engine. My 74 S3 also have the holes.

I thought the same. Thanks for confirming that, but do you know if these holes are tapped?

Steve,

The holes in my '74 OTS are tapped and have plastic plug inserts inserted after the car was painted. Hence, inserts are unpainted.

Thank you! That was just what I needed to know. That explains why I couldn’t feel any threads when I probed the holes with a small pin. I’m planning on using these holes to hold cable clamps for my fuel injection.

Now on to my next quest. Does anyone have on old (doesn’t need to be working) Butec regulator from a SIII E Type or XJ6? I just want the terminals that stick out the side that the wiring harness plugs onto.
