[s-type] 2004 Locked gear lever

I am trying to open the centre console so that I can
manually move the gear stick, I have the main cover off but
am not sure how to get the the black plastic piece off
without braking it, Can anyone help?–

My comments are based on my 2000 so I don’t know if it is
the same as yours.
The black plastic PRND cover does not have to be removed to
move the stick.
There is a solenoid on the back of the shifter tower at the
bottom. Push it up and push in a little plunger on the left
side, then the stick will move.
Investigate why the solenoid is not working, most likely the
relay #7 in the trunk fuse box. If not that then the brake
switch.–

On the rear left hand side, looks like a kernel of corn but
black, prevents the yellow metal piece on the left rear from
moving up. When you push up on the silver solenoid button,
then push in this black corn kernel, then pull the shift
lever and the yellow metal will move up.–
