[s-type] 2005 3 Litre S Type. What total mileages are owners getting?

Now the 2005 cars are getting 11 years old there must be
some really high mileages being run up. I,m really curious
to know what they are. Please share with this forum. Thanks.–

I just retired my 2000 3.0 with 155K on the clock. Upper rear
frame had rusted so badly that the right rear suspension let go;
the front left side suspension wasn’t far behind, and the
transmission was being nursed along. I’m happy, I think I got good
value, and may fun miles.–

I have 110,00 Km on my 2001 3.0 S-type and it still runs like a dream with no real problems. I have never been on this particular part of this site before as I am restoring a XK 140 at this stage and that has been where all my interest has been. Also, I never did think to check out the older saloon section either, as our 1966 S-Type seems to not give us any concern also.

My 1999 4.0 litre has about 150,000 kms [ under 100,000 miles] . Certainly not trouble free. Just back from a $3000 rebuild of the heater /aircon and cam covers , it’s booked back in after a week . The air would not turn off the heater. So a new tap , module etc went in and I drove away with cold air blowing at me , Success? well no . Wife gets in car , " why is it blowing [ really] hot air at my side?"
So I suppose on average it wasn’t bad [ as a statistician might say. Full cold one side plus full hot the other.
The after market ones apparently give trouble , or… I could buy a genuine Jag module for $3000.
Theh shine has certainly gone off ownership. Luckily I kept the Sovereign XJ 40 which has been a saviour while the S Type lives in it’s accustomed home at the repairers.

If they can’t get it fixed before the Xmas closure , I’ve asked if they can disconnect the heater water pump.
I don’t know if anyone else has tried this.
Having a number of older Jags , I used to wonder why the RACV figures on make reliability put Jaguar in such a bad light . " Used to , " that is.

Yes I could say mine runs like a dream : >(

$3k for a heater valve? Its a Ford part, $145 at Rock Auto. That shop is hosing you.

You might have a broken wire at the connector on the valve. I had to solder one there once.
