In reply to a message from Winfly sent Wed 26 Jan 2011:

My JTIS manual only covers '99-04, but it says to first remove the
seat belt cover and bolt, run the seat backward to remove the front
bolts, run it forward to get the rear bolts, then disconnect the
battery ground cable before unplugging the electrical connectors
under the seat.
Pulling the plug with live power might cause a glitch in the memory
or something.–

The seat will not move due to a malfunction in the control module.

How does one get to the bolts if the seat cannot be moved?

Is it possible to remove the bottom seat cushion without taking out the seat?

Any and all assistance is appreciated.

The cushion can be removed but it doesn’t remove the seat pan - i.e. removing the cushion won’t allow access to the bolts, because all you can do is take off the upholstery and the padding, not the entire lower assembly.

I would think you can reach at least one set of the bolts - either the fronts or the rear. The one that is covered, you might have to look for a box-type wrench that will fit over the star type bolt head on the front. On the rear, you might be able to use a pass-through socket wrench to hold a Torx bit to undo them.

In the worst case scenario - if the fore-aft motor still works - you could apply power directly to the power pin for the motor to drive it. This is a procedure described in the factory service manual, not sure where the pinouts for the connector is described.
