[s-type] Auto dimming mirrors

Recently I purchased a 2003 S-type.
Since I live in a northern lattitidue where the days are currently very
long, I haven’t spent much time driving at night yet.

My question is in regards to the auto-dimming mirrors.
This is my first car with such a feature and it does seem to work. (I have
pressed the swtich on and off  )

I find quite a bit of glare and no noticable difference in the mirror when
driving at night with lights behind.
I assume it is simply not working.

I am I correct in my assumption that it is fairly apparent when it is
working (noticible darkenning or something?)
Any one have experience with a smiliar issue?

Many thanks in advance
-Chris

I also have a 2003 (v8). Mine turns a green hue and the glare almost goes away.

Try changing the position of the rear head rests, on mine if the central
one is raised it stops the light getting to the sensor.
