[s-type] Doors locking, - and unlocking

I am seeking some advice from the S-type community:

Recently the doors will not lock by using the remote. Leaving the car they
do lock (by the remote), - but unlocks the next second. By itself!

The same happens when starting the drive. Once I reach 5 mph or so, - the
doors lock, - and unlock the next second.

I manage to lock the doors by using the key (except on one occation).

I will appreciate any tips on where to look for the fault. A micro-switch
somewhere that disable the locking system to operate normally?

Thanks in advance.

Hi William - Very strange
One idea. Try your other remote to outrule fault in the remote.
The locking after a short driving is normal.
Look in the other topics about locking.

I suspect it is a micro switch problem, in one of your door locks,
in that the door is not fully locking or in some other way the
unlock switch is being tripped and the signal is sent to unlock all
the other doors.–

Thanks for your comments and advice Rob and Leo.

I will pursue the micro switch theory. Seems likely since I also experienced
a similar problem earlier, - occasionally the drivers door would not
unlock/open from the inside. Either I have had to use the remote, or open
another door. A faulty micro-switch in the drivers door?
Possibly/probably…

Best, William

If you double lock, you can t open the from the inside with the
handle. Look into your Handbook.

William, can you confirm what the solution is. My car has an identical problem.

Sit in the car with all the doors unlocked. Then lock the car with the fob and see which lock doesn’t move. You have to spot this before the doors unlock again. Obviously, this is the one that needs to be investigated. Unless the system sees all the locks closed it will unlock straight away. This will also happen on DAL.
The microswitches do fail and bits of the locking gear break off. I have replaced the microswitches rather than purchasing a new lock. I do not think the gear can be repaired successfully.

Just to close out my fault. The driver door lock was at fault. I just used the key to lock and unlock the car until I got around to replacing the driver door lock. To open the rest of the doors i had to manually unlock the back door driver side which then released the rest of the other rear and front passenger door. Now that that I’ve replaced the driver door lock all doors operate correctly with the remote etc so back to normal operation now.

Getting the lock out was interesting. There is a yellow tab that secures one of the connecting rods. This is released by push it to the side outwards to clear the rod. It hindged so will drop down at the same time. The rod then is pushed out of its locating hole. The green clip must be pulled towards you. This opens up the clip and releases the other metal rod.

The wire plug must be released. There is a red tab at the base of the plug that must be slide backwards before you can pull the plug off. The last connection to remove is a white plastic connecting lever that sits on top of the lock. This was tricky but used a few screwdrivers to push a white tab backwards and a small pick to pull another tab forwards while levering the whole white lever rod up. Fun! (not). It probably took 2 hours being careful and unsure of the process. Once unbolted the lock can be manuvoured our of the door cavity. Took 20 minutes to replace and reconnect the new lock. If you know the process its less than one hour all up.
Will pull the old lock apart to see what went wrong. Must be one of those microswitches.
